KK

Kota Kinabalu, the state capital of Sabah, Malaysia. This is sweeper's first travel and our first in Diosdado Macapagal International Airport or Clark International Airport.

habang nakapila sa DMIA at yung back pack ko, yan si sweeper
at yung 3 photos pa, yan naman ang bahay namin sa KK

ang mapang yan ang nagbigay ng direction sa'ming buhay sa KK =P

Our first adventure was white water rafting in the Kiulu River, located in the small town of Kiulu, Tamparuli District. It's a 15km stretch with grade 1 and 2 water rapids.

Then we had dinner in a dampa-like area, it's very similar to Dampa in Las Pinas, where the live seafood is on an aquarium and you'll just ask them to cook it for you. Here also there are so many Filipinos, the vibe is very Pinas, you can speak in Tagalog and they even give you "tawad".

that's our yummy dinner

The place where we are staying is in the city center, so, mostly just walk around with the help of the map to go places. After dinner, we wanted to burn what we ate, so, we just walked around, trying the KK nightlife.

During weekends the street close to our hotel is turning into weekend markets, so we roam around to buy pasalubong, and try KK delicacies. It's a long stretch of street market, and you can buy their crops and crafts and food as well.

I love their kakanin =)

and while walking around, we saw this Old Town cafe, since we had kakanin, we went there for coffee. Good morning KK!

Another to do here in Kota Kinabalu, if you are not hiking Mt. Kota Kinabalu, is island and beach hopping. Though I would say, our beaches are at par with theirs but I would like to commend how organized and how they preserved their islands and beach areas. I hope we could learn from them. They are also using speed boat, vongga!

We visited Manukan island (Pulau Manukan) since it's the most popular and the second largest island.

from KK City, Manukan Island is a 15-minute boat ride

its a mixture of beach and historical museum

I love the jetty and also the style of the overnight villa, either Hillside chalet or beachside chalet (so, chalet pala ang tawag sa ganyang bahay, made of wood at typical daw yan sa Alpine region in Europe)

This trip is actually, gala-kain repeat mode =P. After mapagod sa maghapong beach bumming, heto na naman kami sa kainan. Here naman, it's like the ihawan/barbequehan/manukan type of kainan, very much like in Mindano or Visayas, yung nasa street lang, may ihawan sa tabi then may set-up ng table, order ng iihawin then upo to order kanin and drinks.

our yummy dinner, last night na namin ito

At ayun, time to go home! This is my second international flight with Air Asia, in fairness nakakauwi naman ng matiwasay.

I wanted to go back here sana to climb Mt. Kota Kinabalu, but I think I cannot do that promise anymore, bukod sa mahal sya eh hindi ko na kayang mag-climb, but I can visit the forest area.

Salamat kay UBBE (Icoy) for all the photos.
